Alicia Lund, “blog-ette” extraordinaire behind "Cheetah is the New Black", recently swapped her spacious, sun-kissed wardrobe in San Francisco for our tiny closets and garment racks, here, in New York City. While Alicia also freelances as a stylist, she’s found style sanctuary in blogging since 2008. “At the time, I didn’t really know what it would be so it just kind of evolved naturally for the past 3 years.” Just like the blog, her own style blossomed with every post and into a profound appreciation of ‘investment’ pieces. Her edgy-yet-sophisticated taste – often pairs an eye-catching, colorful hat or bag with boyfriend jeans and a unique sweater or top. “Anyone can go to Zara and get that cute, peplum top but I’m more inspired by people who are doing different things.”
Some of her recent splurges include a pair of Vince leather leggings and a Helmut Lang leather-sleeved jacket. “I’m willing to invest in leather,” and advises, “it looks better with wear so you’re going to have it forever.” Despite the short period of time she’s been in NYC, Alicia’s wasted no time sniffing out the best shopping haunts in town. “I shop at Otte all the time and I also really love Opening Ceremony" - gracefully diving into the pot with the rest of us fashion-hungry New Yorkers. When asked where she finds daily inspiration, Alicia says, “I really love walking around different neighborhoods and seeing what the cool girls are wearing,”.
“I really like that money isn’t involved,” Alicia says, when asked what she likes most about Bib + Tuck. “Even if you don’t have a large cash flow to spend one month, you can give up something that you’re not wearing at the time and get something new in return.” Regardless of her enthusiasm about the site, there is one thing that she’ll never ‘Bib’. “My Miu Miu wedding shoes,” which will be the end of my fellow ‘Tuckers’ and I, however, we can also look forward to snagging some of Alicia’s other swanky pieces in the future.
